Trioctyl trimellitate Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | viscous yellow liquid |
Usage | Trioctyl Trimellitate is a plasticizer that was evaluated for endocrine disrupting activities through estrogen receptor alpha binding assay. |
General Description | Yellow oily liquid. |
Air & Water Reactions | Insoluble in water. |
Reactivity Profile | Trioctyl trimellitate is an ester. Esters react with acids to liberate heat along with alcohols and acids. Strong oxidizing acids may cause a vigorous reaction that is sufficiently exothermic to ignite the reaction products. Heat is also generated by the interaction of esters with caustic solutions. Flammable hydrogen is generated by mixing esters with alkali metals and hydrides. |
Fire Hazard | Trioctyl trimellitate is probably combustible. |
Ⅰ Chemical formula and molecular weight
●Chemical formula:C33H54O6
●Molecular weight:546.79
●CAS No.:3319-31-1
Ⅱ Properties and uses
●Colourless,transparent oily liquid,b.p.283℃(3mmHg),viscosity 100~300 c.p.(20℃),refractive index 1.4485(25℃).
●Used as a heat-endurant and long-lasting plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, usually for preparing Grade 105℃ electrical cable and other heat-resisting plastic products.
●It possesses both advantages being used as plasticizer for polyesters and for general purposes. Except producing oilresisting ones, also used in preparing any long-lasting products.
