2-Butoxyethyl acetate Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | colourless to pale yellow liquid with a mild odour |
General Description | Colorless liquid with a weak fruity odor. Floats and mixes slowly with water. |
Air & Water Reactions | Water soluble. |
Reactivity Profile | 2-Butoxyethyl acetate is incompatible with the following: Oxidizers . 2-Butoxyethyl acetate is an ether-alcohol derivative. The ether being relatively unreactive. Flammable and/or toxic gases are generated by the combination of alcohols with alkali metals, nitrides, and strong reducing agents. They react with oxoacids and carboxylic acids to form esters plus water. Oxidizing agents convert alcohols to aldehydes or ketones. Alcohols exhibit both weak acid and weak base behavior. They may initiate the polymerization of isocyanates and epoxides. |
Health Hazard | Inhalation of concentrated vapor may cause headache, nausea, dizziness. Liquid causes irritation of eyes and mild irritation of skin. Ingestion produces same symptoms as inhalation. |
