Application :
vat dyeing, printing and stripping , reduction cleaning,
leaching textile materials such as silk, wool, nylon and other fibres
bleaching mechanical pulps ,thermo-mechanical pulps, deinked pulps
bleaching kaolin
bleaching foodstuffs like sugar, honey , gelatin etc .
reducing agent for organic synthesis and pharmaceuticals
Specific hazards
May spontaneously ignite in moist air or upon contact with small quantities of water.
React violently with oxidants resulting in combustion or explosion .
Extinguish Method :
Using large quantities of water drown the product .
Storage & handling:
Being a strong reducing agent , sodium hydrosulfite can decompose easily while exposed to air and moisture no matter it is made by any kinds of production processes .
The product must be stored in sealed iron drums or bulk containers in a cool dry place away from moisture , acids, oxidizing chemicals and combustible organic substances .
Protect the product away from direct sunlight , heat , sparks and open flames.
Carefully handle the product and avoid damaging the package.
Leakage:
Collect the spilt product and place it in a dry and clean container where it can be recycled or dissolved in water. Wash the area involved with water.
